A Big Announcement: Bernd Kuchenbeiser shows books and records
08.10.2022–15.01.2023
Opening 07.10.2022

Bernd Kuchenbeiser is one of Germany’s most outstanding contemporary book and record designers.

For the exhibition A Big Announcement, he has developed a kaleidoscopic tour of the show that stems from his own projects. The term kaleidoscope may be understood in a literal sense as “seeing beautiful forms,” but in this exhibition it is first and foremostly about connecting in multiple ways. Kuchenbeiser understands design as a social action that can only develop through dialogue or by entering into a relationship. Following this approach, each exhibition space has been arranged together with a co-curator. In these conversations between companions, the rooms take on a wide variety of relationships and display shared interests between art, music, and architecture as well as sound, form, and production.

The accompanying publication is being produced on site in Franz von Stuck’s studio, which Bernd Kuchenbeiser is using for the duration of the exhibition as a roaming design office and salon for conversations, listening sessions, and concerts.
