Emmanuel Awuni, Won Cha, Ndayé Kouagou
10.09.–30.10.2022
Opening 09.09.
Nir Altman is pleased to present work by Emmanuel Awuni, Ndayé Kouagou, and Won Cha in cooperation with Sundy, London, and LC Queisser, Tbilisi.
Emmanuel Awuni reimagines structures underlying existing systems of authority. Informed by diasporic traditions, the London-based artist explores relationships between non-hierarchical and non-linear sounds found in Hip Hop and pidgin English. Ndayé Kouagou can be described as an artist, performer, and, perhaps unwillingly, as a poet. The Paris-based artist interweaves intuitive text fragments and addresses issues of identity, fragility, and individual legitimacy from a laconic point of view. In Won Cha’s work, material collected from various sources is striking because of its layers. The Philadelphia-based artist’s approach involves fragmenting and ordering traces, which he transforms into complex installations.
